Ruby Mae Womack

Ruby Mae Womack was born September 26, 1925, at Terlton, Oklahoma, and passed from this life on May 27, 2018.
She was the daughter of F. M. (Frank) and Alma Walden Davis. Ruby’s mother passed away when she was three-years-old. She was raised by her dad and stepmother, Blanche Davis, on a farm south of Pawnee. Ruby attended Prosperity Grade School, a small country school and graduated from Pawnee High School in May 1944. She was a member of the First Baptist Church and baptized on November 11, 1943.
After graduating high school, Ruby married the love of her life, Orville Newton Womack of Pawnee in September 1945, and were married for 62 years before he passed away on October 18, 2007. To this union, three sons were born: Max Lee, Jackie Ray, and Donnie Gene. She was proceeded in death by her husband, Orville; parents, F. M. and Alma Davis; two sisters, Grace and Lilly Belle; and five brothers, Gilbert, Bill, Jim, Jack, and an infant brother. She leaves behind three sons: Max and wife Sharon Womack of Pawnee, Jack Womack and friend Debbie Clark of Morrison, and Donnie and wife Annette Womack of Pawnee; four grandchildren: Lori and Jarrett Kloxin of Stillwater, Jimmy and wife Stacy Womack of Pawnee, Steven and wife Brandi Womack of Morrison, David and wife Candice of Broken Arrow; five great-grandchildren: Caleb McCray of Stillwater, Blake Womack of Pawnee, Guner Womack of Morrison, Brody Womack of Pawnee, Abigail Womack of Morrison, and Jocelyn Womack of Broken Arrow; and one sister Peggy and husband Willie Huerta of Crescent; many nephews, nieces, and a host of other family and friends.
Orville and Ruby owned and operated a variety of businesses in the Pawnee community during their 62 years of marriage including the Coffee Cup Café, Pawnee Grill, Pawnee Cab Company, Womack and Robins Pontiac and Buick Dealership, Circle ‘N Ranchburger, and Womack Rentals. Over the years, they enjoyed raising and watching their quarter horses race, loved watching their grandchildren and great-grandchildren participate in sports, and always had an open door to their family and friends.
Ruby was a blessing to all who met her, she was incredibly head strong and she loved to tell stories about her life experiences. At the age of 16 Ruby got a job at a restaurant bussing tables, found two roommates and rented an apartment in town so she could complete her high school education.
Ruby leaves behind this message…”When I have struggled mightily but failed while trying my best I remember, ‘Come unto me all ye that labor and are heavy laden and I will give you rest’ --Matthew 11:28. He will bless all of you, trust and obey!”
Services will be Friday 2:00 P.M. June 1, 2018 in the Poteet Funeral home Chapel with Senior Adult Minister Chan Ray officiating, intermittent will follow at Highland Cemetery.
