Ann Arlene Dooley Brien was born on April 12, 1935 at her parent’s home in the Big Bend, west of Ralston to Effie McKinney Dooley and Parris F. Dooley. She was the youngest of 12 children. She went to be with the Lord on Thursday, October 22, 2020 in Fairfax Community Hospital, Fairfax, Oklahoma, having reached the age of 85 years 6 months and 10 days. She received the first 8 years of her education at a country school called Belford School. She attended 9th and 10th grade at Burbank High School. Ann played basketball on the high school team. She then did 11th and 12th grade by correspondence Course to American School. Ann went on to receive her GED for a high school diploma in May 1971. It wasn’t an easy task with 4 children and a husband, but she was determined to get her diploma. She wanted her children to understand how important education was, no matter what your age or circumstances. She married Gene C. Brien, from the Masham Community, North of Pawnee on July 11, 1952 at Rev. Earnest Hitt’s residence in Pawnee. They made their home in the Masham Community, Oklahoma. Over the years, her neighbors, friends, Rev. Johnny Wagner and his wife, Becky in the Masham community along with nieces and nephews that would lend a helping hand as needed, check on her or just call to visit. In her lifetime, she worked at Munsingwear in Hominy, the Pawnee Sale Barn, as a seamstress, County Clerk’s office and bookkeeper for Brad Moss. She worked at the Pawnee County Treasurer’s Office during tax season each year for several years and has kept books for the Masham Cemetery for 25 years. She made most of our clothes growing up and made so many outfits for grandchildren too. She made some beautiful quilts along with embroidered quilts as well. She was also baptized and a member of the Masham Baptist Church and attended church as her health permitted. Her favorite bible verse was “Trust in the Lord with all thy heart; and lean not unto thy own understanding. In all thy ways acknowledge him and he shall direct thy paths.” Proverbs 3:5-6. Ann shared 56 years with the love of her life. She not only taught us to pray and about God, she taught us manners, how to manage money, respect for others, a good work ethic, help one another, discipline and love of family, she showed us by example in her everyday life. These are just a few of the many life lessons we learned from her. She always stressed to us how important it was for her to live at home and live her life as she got older. We helped her to accomplish that feat. She always said, “I don’t know what I would do without you 4 kids.” She loved us beyond measure as we did her. She loved the spouses that her children chose and the grandkids and great grandkids spouses too. She enjoyed and loved her grandkids, great grandkids and great-great grandkids coming to see her and watching them play and seeing her grandkids parenting skills at work. She is survived by: 4 children: Morris and his wife Nancy, Skedee, Oklahoma Dixie Brown, Stillwater, Oklahoma Royce and his wife Patty, Pawnee, Oklahoma Tony and his wife Nina, Masham Community, Oklahoma 17 Grandchildren, 37 Great Grandchildren, 8 Great-Great Grandchildren, 1 Great-Great Granddaughter on the way.
