Betty Jean (Romine) Spears, passed away in Pawnee, Oklahoma on December 18, 2019 after a courageous battle with Leukemia.
She was born on May 18, 1937 in Tulsa, Oklahoma to James Clifford Romine and Velma E. Miles. Betty was raised in Tulsa and graduated Will Rogers High School in 1955. Betty Romine and Elton Spears were married in Tulsa on July 12, 1957 and made their home in Pawnee.
She was an active member of the First Baptist Church of Pawnee.
She was a skilled seamstress and sewed for people until her children were in school. She then worked for Department of Human Services in Pawnee and retired after 26 years of service. She was a volunteer for Pawnee Auxiliary Hospital, enjoyed being an active member of the Dorcas Home Demonstration Club for many years, loved photography and working in her flower beds. After retirement she volunteered for Helping Hands Hospice.
Surviving are her husband, Elton of Pawnee; her son and daughter, Monte Spears (Renee) of Ponca City, Oklahoma and Lori Spears of Corvallis, Montana; grandchildren, Darren Ginn (Jennifer) of Stevensville, Montana; Nicholas Spears (Anna) of Stillwater, Oklahoma; Zachary Spears of Moore, Oklahoma; April Rivera (Ruben) of Ponca City, Oklahoma; Amber Allen of Ponca City, Oklahoma; and six great grandchildren. She is also survived by her sister, Jane Adams of Riverside, Texas along with three sisters-in-law, Cleta Kirkpatrick, Sylvia Rosenthal and Linda Morris and one brother-in-law, Leslie Spears along with two great aunts Velma (Gene) Lemmonier and Carol Ross. She was preceded in death by her parents.
Memorial service will be held on December 21, 2019 at 200pm at the First Baptist Church in Pawnee, Oklahoma with Pastor John Coker officiating.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial donations to the American Cancer Society, First Baptist Church of Pawnee, Physician’s Choice Hospice or a charity of your choice.
