Betty Jeanne (Vance) Hoobler

Betty J. (Vance) Hoobler was born in a farmhouse four miles northwest of Hallett, Oklahoma on November 2nd, 1927. She went home to be with the Lord on November 7th, 2020 at the age of 93.

Betty spent her early years on the farm. She always shared many wonderful and amazing memories of this time in her life. Her father Irl Vance had a heart attack when she was four years old. This hindered him from doing as much physical labor and was also in the early years of the Great Depression and Dust Bowl and because of extremely challenging times the family moved to Skedee in 1937. During this time Betty had a divine encounter and gained a reputation as being a "child preacher". She was small in stature and used to stand on the church piano bench so folks could see her. In 1940 they moved to Pawnee where Irl took a job as a Deputy Sheriff. Betty went to and graduated from Pawnee High School where she was a cheerleader, member of glee club, student Red Cross, choir, and participated in school plays.

Betty married Roy Alderson on February 14, 1947. They lived in Pawnee for three years where they had their first son. They moved to Tulsa in 1950, started a business and had two more children. Later, Betty went to work for The Heller Oil Company and continued there until 1989. While there, she married Harvey Heller, Jr and was married to him until he passed away in 1988. In 2001, she married Robert Hoobler, a life long friend she had known in both Skedee and Pawnee. They enjoyed many pleasant years of retirement and were very involved at East Tulsa Bible Chapel.

Betty loved to sew and made clothes for both family and friends. She was also an excellent cook and homemaker and loved to have friends and family over to her home. She also loved to hold Bible studies. One of her biggest adventures was going to visit her grandchildren in Egypt who she loved dearly and talked about constantly. Betty was probably best known for her devotion to and love of the Lord Jesus Christ.

Betty was preceded in death by her parents Irl and Lila Vance, her husband Robert "Bob" Hoobler, two older brothers Orville and Dick Vance, a sister Zelma Russ, and a grandson Daniel Ligon. She is survived by a son Randy Alderson of Collinsville and his wife Patti, a daughter Mary Ligon of Tulsa and her husband Terry, a son Rodney Alderson of Claremore and his wife Crista, a grand daughter Sarah Ligon Agraz of Jersey City, NJ and her husband David, a grandson Nathanael Ligon of Emeryville, CA and his wife Eryn, a grandson Ryan Alderson of Kansas City, KS and his wife Janelle, and four great grandchildren.
