Billie June Casey

Billie June Casey was born on February 22, 1931, in Pawnee, Oklahoma, to William "Bill" Schone and Fern Lockwood Schone.  She passed from this life on Tuesday, May 10, 2016, in Wichita, Kansas, in the company of many of her family but she held those who were not present in her heart.

She was 85 years old and amazed that she made that birthday milestone.  She married Carl William Casey on August 11, 1950, at the First Christian Church in Pawnee.  She and Carl lived in many places.  They were blessed with four children and each was born in a different town.  They started in Pawnee then they moved to Perry, Billings, Newkirk, Tulsa, Sallisaw and back to Tulsa, before moving to Pawnee after retirement in May of 1985.

Billie returned to the First Christian Church where she grew up and was an active member of the CWF.  Utilizing one of her many skills, she became an avid quilter and helped start a quilting group at the church.  Wednesday mornings were set aside for CWF, quilting and talking with friends that were also her mother's friends.  It seems that little pieces of fabric joined together create more than a blanket because they also create friendships and serve as a ministry to others as well.   She was very proud of the quilt that was created by the entire church to celebrate the 100th anniversary of the First Christian Church.  Again, pieces of fabric which brought a group together.

Billie was famous for her cooking as well.  She loved to find and try new recipes.  Not that you actually had to use the recipe the way it was written because "close" was always good as well.  If you had to name one thing that everyone loved it would have to be her "famous" cinnamon rolls.  No one knows exactly how she did it.  Maybe the secret ingredient was her love of cooking for others.

On many Tuesday and Thursday mornings, she could be found at the doughnut shop where "the girls" met for coffee and doughnuts.  Billie (who also made great doughnuts) actually preferred the sausage biscuits and gravy.  She loved finding out what everyone and their families were doing as well as what was going on in Pawnee.

She loved her grandchildren and her great-grandchildren and loved seeing them as often as possible.  However, on a daily basis, it would be hard to compete with the love she had for her dogs.  When it came to cooking for loved-ones, the dogs were no exception.  They received chicken with every meal.  Minus the bones that Billie really liked.  One of her last requests was for Kentucky Fried chicken.

Billie is survived by: Children: Pam and Dean Randall, Edmond, Oklahoma, Gayla and Bob Banes, Wichita, Kansas, Carl Casey and Donna Anderson, Pawnee, Oklahoma, Todd and Sandy Casey, Girard, Kansas, Grandchildren; Jonathan and Chandy Randall, Casey Randall,Stephen and Holli Banes, Leslie and Marc Milleson,June and Josh Sroufe,Tammy Casey, Tyler Casey, and Renee Miessne, Travis Casey, Jill and Justin Lombard, Jamie and Alex Talbot, Kylie Kunshek and John Arb, Great-grandchildren; Dylan Casey, Clark Bringham, Liam Sroufe, Fox Sroufe, Winiphred Sroufe, Brooklyn Milleson, Owen Milleson, Colin Banes. She also is celebrated by several nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends.   And, of course, Muffin, her dog.    Billie was preceded in death by husband, Carl Casey; parents, Bill and Fern Schone; grandchildren, Aaron Banes and David Casey; and daughter-in-law, Clara Casey Interment will be at Masham Cemetery, Masham, Oklahoma.
