Bobby Joe Nuttle

Bobby Joe Nuttle was born in Pawnee, Oklahoma on July 15, 1950 to Robert and Josie (Fields) Nuttle.

A pillar and a provider for his family, Bobby, or “Big-un” as his youngest daughter Jackie lovingly called him, truly lived up to the larger-than-life nickname. He had a way of instilling confidence and calm in difficult times, he never was indecisive, and he stuck to his principles. And those are traits he passed down to his family.

Bobby was an avid fisherman. “I want to wet a hook,” he’d say, and we all knew it was time to make plans for a trip to the lake, with the caveat that we chose a spot that had plenty of “shade big goose.” He had a million quirky little phrases and sayings like that.

It’s those little inside jokes that will most certainly bring smiles and laughter to his family for years to come. And probably raise a few eyebrows of those who aren’t in on it.

Bobby met the love of his life, Barbara, at Bama Pie in March 1971.

“As soon as I saw her face, I knew she was the one for me,” Bobby said soon after they met.

The two were inseparable from then on and were married a little more than a year later, on April 8, 1972. They complemented one another and persevered through good times and bad times for 48 love-filled years, raising five children along the way.

Bobby graduated from Northeastern State University in Tahlequah in 1974 with a double major in business administration and management. After working for a few loan companies after college, Bobby landed his dream job at World Acceptance Corporation in March 1982. He would remain on the job for the next 35 years until his retirement in July 2017.

Later in life, Bobby and Barbara spent a lot of their leisure time visiting casinos across the state to play the slots. Naturally, they enjoyed vacationing in Las Vegas and always felt they were on the cusp of “slipping a $20 in” and hitting a jackpot!

On April 2, 2021, at the age of 70, Bobby left this world in peace – joining his mother, father, his little sister Robyn and his little brother Howard in the afterlife.

Bobby is survived by his five children Robert, Kelli, Denise, Jackie, and Matthew; his six grandchildren Sierra, Caleb, Avery, Ethan, Carter, and Roman; and many more extended family members and life-long friends.
