Brodie ‘Broda’ Barnes Clark Brodie was born June 04, 1944 in Valentine, AZ. He passed away on January 12, 2023 in Stillwater, OK at the age of 79. Born to Taft and Eunice Clark. December 29, 1970 was an important day for him and Starry Lois Mathews, they became husband and wife. Married for 52 years they had 3 children, Wallace Gene, Lawrence James and Aaron Anthony. Brodie came to live in Pawnee to take care of his Uncle Tom and Aunt Gertie Clark where they lived west of Pawnee, OK. He has been a long-life resident of Pawnee since 1964. He is a member of the Pawnee Indian Baptist Church. Brodie’s education started at the Albuquerque Indian School. He was active in sports where Pawnee tribal member Mr. Chauncey Matlock was his coach. Brodie continued his education attending Haskell Indian Jr. College receiving his Associates degree. Brodie fulfilled his obligation to his country by joining the United States Army, Artillery Division beginning August 1966 and discharged June 1968 as a SP4. Employment for Brodie consists of various jobs such as working on the Pawnee Tribal police force, Brown and Root of Red Rock, OK, and many companies in the Stillwater area, Wyatt’s Cafeteria, Swan Hose and Oklahoma State University where he retired after 25 years of employment. He was an avid supporter of the Oklahoma State University Cowboys. He was survived by his wife of the home and 3 sons, 4 grandsons Darren Cain, Elias Lee, Jay Darrius, Gabriel Starr and a great grandson Waylon Kash Clark. Also, sisters Wanda Kanuho, Pawnee, OK and Ernestine Claw of Kingman, AZ and a host of many nieces, nephews, sisters and brothers-in-laws of the Mathews and Kent Family and many relatives of the Hualapai Tribe. Brodie was preceded in death by his parents Taft and Eunice Clark, sisters Janice Marie Begay, Jennifer Clark, Rowena Rena Clark, brothers Elmer Clark, Enos Taft Clark, Rudolph ‘Rudy’ Clark, Dr. Frank Clark of California and stepbrother Anthony Wheeler. Being a proud and humble man Brodie is a descendant of Chief Walapai Charley, Brodie’s great grandfather. Being members of the Walapai Tribe his father, Taft Clark was a member of the Chloride Band and his mother, Eunice Kaiser Clark was of the Big Sandy Band.
