Charles "Chuck" Herring Smith

Charles “Chuck” Herring Smith passed away Jan 13th, 2023. Chuck was born June 12,1946 to Daphne Smith in Macomb, Ms. He was a proud veteran of the United States Air Force, where he served as a TechSgt. He later attended TCJC in Ft Worth, Tx where he studied engineering. Chuck married Blanche Matlock on September 17th 1976. He retired as a computer programmer from Oklahoma tax commission from the early 2000s when he and Blanche moved back to Pawnee for their remaining years. Chuck loved traveling and adventuring across the country. He loved NASCAR and formula one racing. He enjoyed air shows, hot air balloons, gardening, and sci-fi movies. He was preceded in death by mother Daphne and wife Blanche. He is survived by son Shawn Phillips of Sherman, Texas and daughter Renee Brown, many grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and extended family. Chuck was very loved and respected by his community and will be greatly missed.
