Charles Leslie Hanger, life long resident of Pawnee, Oklahoma, passed from this life on Saturday, September 12, 2015, at the age of 87 years old. Leslie was born October 1, 1927, on the family farm north of Pawnee, Oklahoma.  He was the son of Charles Luther and Ella Edna (Hettenbach) Hanger.  As a young man Leslie began his education at the Hopewell School.  He later began attending school in Pawnee where he graduated with the Class of 1944 at the age of 16.  Following his graduation Leslie helped his family on the farm.  On August 16, 1947, Leslie was united in marriage to the love of his life Ethel Juanita Ellis in Perry, Oklahoma.  The two established their home in Pawnee where they have continued to reside.  Initially after the couple was married Leslie worked several different jobs including building Quonset huts in Stillwater.  He later gained employment at the Ford garage in Pawnee where he worked as the service manager for more than 33 years at his retirement in 1990.  Following retirement Leslie worked part time in the office for a local plumber.   Leslie was a very active part of the local Senior Citizens as well as the Maramec Senior Citizens. He served on the Pawnee Senior Citizens' board for several years.  Leslie enjoyed going to local music events and was a self taught harmonica player.  He was also an avid reader of history books and enjoyed working crossword puzzles.  Yearly vacations were always a given for Leslie and his family.  He always enjoyed getting his family together and going places with them.  During the time his grandchildren were growing up they all remembered Leslie letting them eat things right out of the container while sitting on his lap.  Leslie was a very proud parent of his children and always talked about how his son Charlie made an impact by making a life changing arrest of the man responsible for the Oklahoma City bombing.  Leslie has also been a longtime active member of the Pawnee First Baptist Church. Survivors are his wife Ethel of the home, two children Charlie Hanger and his wife Beverly of Perry, Oklahoma, Sandie Moorman and her husband Craig of Leedey, Oklahoma; two siblings Lorene Skidgel of Moore, Oklahoma, Beverly Bohlier and her husband Bill of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma; four grandchildren Jennifer Williams and her husband Ben of Edmond, Oklahoma, Lisa Paul and her husband Dan of Marietta, Georgia, Miranda Moorman of Washington, DC, Mason Moorman of Stillwater, Oklahoma, four great grandchildren Emma and Preston Williams, Anderson and Jackson Paul, nieces and nephew Gloria Nunn, Lori Fuller, Michelle Taylor, Steve Skidgel as well as numerous other relatives and friends.  In addition to his parents Leslie was preceded in death by an infant sister, infant grandson Charles Andrew Hanger and nephew Max Skidgel. Church Services will be held 2:00 pm Wednesday, September 16, 2015 at First Baptist Church with Pastor John Coker and Chan Ray officiating.  Burial will follow in the Highland Cemetery in Pawnee, Oklahoma under the direction of Poteet Funeral Home and Cremation Services.  Friends may share a memory with the family online at www.poteetfuneralhome.com.
