Deloris Higgins, 84, went to be with her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ in the early morning hours on September 25, 2015 surrounded by her loving family. Deloris was born in Blackburn, Oklahoma, March 10, 1931 to James Calvin and Dora Ella (Batten) Harris. She was raised and schooled in Blackburn graduating from Blackburn High School where she also played basketball. Deloris married Joe Parker Higgins on January 29, 1950 in Bartlesville the happy couple were married 60 years at the time of Joe Parker's passing. Deloris wore many different hats in her life she was an amazing wife, mother, grandmother, and great grandmother, she was a person whose hands were never idle. Deloris loved to care for the farm animals from the cattle, lots of goats, chickens, dogs, cats, she even had a turtle. Besides being a Great Homemaker she was a Jack of all trades and she could fix anything. The family always raised a big garden and Deloris canned lots of vegetables from that garden, she made the best pickled beets and sweet pickles. She was famous for her baking skills making the best homemade bread and cinnamon rolls, her homemade bread was also used for communion at the church. Deloris taught Sunday School for many years at the Methodist Church, she also taught her children about her faith and how to work hard making sure their hands were never idle. Deloris was always surrounded by her children, grand children, and great grand children she was an inspiration to all.  Deloris leaves to cherish her memories her two daughters; Peggy Ann Witter and husband Chuck of Pawnee, Oklahoma, Debbie Waters and husband Jack of Pawnee, Oklahoma, one son Joe Parker Higgins III and wife Debbie of Pawnee, Oklahoma. Grand Children; Joe Don Colclazier of Pawnee, Oklahoma, Jeff Colclazier of Owasso, Oklahoma, Joshua Colclazier of Blackburn, Oklahoma, Danielle Nicol of Arlington, Texas  Shawn Reed of Pilot Point, Texas,  Loren Waters of Pawnee, Oklahoma, Dell Waters of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, Sharon Curtis of Pawnee, Oklahoma, Joe Parker Higgins IV of Pawnee, Oklahoma, Jayleen Robertson of Locust Grove, Oklahoma and J.C. Higgins of Pawnee, Oklahoma, Brother; Alvin Burge three sisters; Betty Kempf, Sandy Roe, and Donna Smith, 26 Great Grand Children and 2 Great Great Grand Children and other relatives and a Host of friends. Deloris was preceded in death by her  parents, her husband Joe Parker Higgins, three brothers; Larry Burge, Melton Burge, and Earl Burge, two sisters; Rella Stains, and  Ina Mae Burge. Services will be held on 2:00 P.M. Tuesday September 29, 2015 at the First United Methodist Church in Blackburn with Pastor Jeff Kuhn officiating. Internment will follow in the Blackburn Cemetery under the direction of Poteet Funeral Home and Cremation Services, you may leave a memory for the family at www.poteetfuneralhome.com
