Edmond Jacob Alexander Sr.

E.J. Alexander, Sr., 82, was born on December 29, 1936 at the Pawnee Indian Hospital to Rev. William Alexander and Mary (Harjo) Alexander.
E.J. attended Euchie Mission Boarding School from 1945 to 1947. In 1950, E.J. was baptized at Bowen Indian Baptist Church in Tulsa, Ok. by Pastor Wilburn Hill, and was a member of the Oakhurst Indian Fellowship Baptist Church in Oakhurst, Ok. He graduated from Daniel Webster High School in 1956 and Haskell Institute in Lawrence, Kansas in 1958. He retired as a Licensed Plumber from Hale Plumbing in the early 80’s and continued to work as a Contract Plumbing Inspector until his health prevented him to do so. He is survived by his brother Robert Alexander, Miami, OK; Sister Mary Alexander Peak, Oakhurst, OK; Two sons, Eddie Alexander, Wewoka, OK. and Edmond Alexander, Jr., Pawnee, OK; Two daughters, Sandra Alexander Harjo and Alice Alexander of Tulsa, OK.; and numerous cousins, nieces and nephews.
He was preceding in death by his parents, Wife Sue Alexander, two brothers, Rev. Jimmy Alexander and Charles Alexander, Baby Girl Mary Jane Alexander and Granddaughter Brittany Harjo. At an early age E.J. began working at the Oaks Country Club as a caddy. When he was 14, he won the Golden Gloves in the Feather Weight Division in Tulsa, OK. E.J. loved to go to pow-wows and enjoyed straight dancing, and was well known around the arena, making friends, and family along the way. E.J. loved to play Bingo and was an avid Oklahoma University fan. Even though Edmond was a full blood Muscogee Creek native, he loved the Pawnee people and their way of life, and he made his home here for the majority of his life. At times, he was mistaken to be Pawnee, and what he thought as to be as an honor.

Services will be held Wednesday 10:00 A.M. August 28, 2019 in the Pawnee Nation Roam Chief Event Center with Rev. Duane Pratt Sr. officiating burial will follow in the South Indian Cemetery.
