Sue Rose of Ralston, Oklahoma, passed away in her sleep on Friday, October 30, 2015.Hazel Sue Doris (Nix) Rose was born on October 13th, 1939 in Masham, Oklahoma to the late Mavis Juanita Velma Curtis and Gerald M Nix. She graduated from Ralston High School. While attending Ralston High School, she played Forward in 6-man women's basketball, had lots of friends and was very funny, as stated by one of her best friends from high school: Helen Kelly Webb. She played semi-pro women's softball in Oklahoma. She coached church young women's basketball and volleyball in California. She loved her sports whether she was playing, watching family members play, or watching her football on TV. She loved playing cards: Pitch, Pinochle, and Nertz. She loved the outdoors, including canoeing the Buffalo River with her husband and children, and dreamed of becoming an archeologist. She loved to cook until her health no longer allowed her to do so. She loved to read and enjoyed helping others when needed and loved her family and friends.She married Joseph Charles Rose in Ralston, Oklahoma on December 16th, 1969. She raised three children while following her husband, who was in the Navy. She worked as a secretary for the Commander of the Pacific Fleet at North Island Naval Air Station in San Diego, California. She also worked as a secretary for the State of Arkansas.In October2006 she and her husband purchased a home in Ralston and retired to raise chickens, ducks and a garden.She is survived by her husband of 45 years, Joseph Rose of Ralston, Oklahoma; their children Verna Sue Dobbs of Long Beach, California, Beau Dobbs of Ralston, Oklahoma, Kimberly Ellen Broadbeck and her husband Matt of Cincinnati, Ohio and O'donna Ann Dean and her husband Loren of Perry, Oklahoma; her three brothers Gerald G Nix and his wife Charlene of Minco, Oklahoma, Gilbert (Corky) M. Nix and his wife Wanda of Ralston, Oklahoma, and Richard (Bud) Nix and his wife Delcena of Perry, Oklahoma; her two sisters Donna Lynn Phillips and her husband Ken of Duncan, Oklahoma and Pamela Ann Jarvis and her husband Tom of Grove, Oklahoma; and 18 grandchildren: Steven, Annie, Timothy, Daniel, Sue McKay, Jacob, Amanda, Tabitha, Matt, Drew, Max, Abbie, Allie, Ashley, Wonnyou, Ashley, Piper, and Sawyer; numerous nieces and nephews and 13 great-grandchildren.She is preceded in death by her parents and one granddaughter, Coni Marie.The service will be held at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints chapel on 1500   East 9th Street in Cushing, Oklahoma on Saturday, November 7 2015 at 2 p.m. In lieu of flowers, please donate to the Susan G Komen Foundation.
