Hershall Earnest Lemaster

Hershall Earnest Lemaster was born on June 28,1923 to Miles Everett Lemaster and Delia Ann Spears Lemaster in Stigler, Ok. The family moved to Blackburn, Okla. By wagon in 1928.

Hershall married Neoma Keeton on January 11,1943 and they were blessed with three children, Dale Leon Lemaster, Rosetta Faye Lemaster, and Hershall Dewayne Lemaster.

Hershall joined the United States Air Corps in 1943 where he achieved the rank of S/Sgt. He trained at Sheppard Field,Tex., Kessler Field, Miss., Michigan, Texas, Nebraska, Colorado. He served in Italy, and was awarded AM, GC, EAME ribbons, 1 oak leaf cluster, 1 silver star, 5 battle stars. He was discharged in 1945.

Hershall worked at many jobs over his lifetime in construction, oilfield, steel mill, and retired from the Corp of Engineers.

Hershall was preceeded in death by his parents, Everett and Delia Lemaster, His wife, Neoma, his son Dewayne, his grandsons, Daniel “Buddy” Ray Heppel, Jr., and Brent Lemaster, his son-in-law, Daniel Ray Heppel,Sr., his brother, Lester who was killed in action in the Korean War, his sister, Hester Lemaster Carruth.
He is survived by his son, Dale Lemaster and his wife, Mary and their daughter, Holly Augustine and her family of Ohio, his daughter, Rosetta Heppel and her son, David Heppel of Stillwater, Okla., a great grandson, Daniel Ray Heppel III, and great-great-grandson, Mason Wayne Heppel of Minnesota, his daughter-in-law, Shirley Lemaster of California, his brother, Jay Lemaster and his family of Ardmore, Oklahoma, his sisters, Charlene Fisher and her family of Ponca City,Oklahoma, and Willodean Fisher of Ponca City, Oklahoma and her son of Kansas, many nieces and nephews, and a very special friend, Rob Fisher, who “Hersh” considered one of his own!

Hershall loved fishing and hunting. He looked forward to his daily rides with Rob to feed cattle and always had a story to share about those special times. He loved cooking his famous crock pot meals and always had the coffee pot on to share with anyone who came by for a visit. He was well know in the community for his pecan pies. He baked them for everyone, and became known as the Pecan Pie King!

In his final days, Hershall fought a hard physical battle. He passed away on June 10, 2017 in Stillwater, Oklahoma with his loving daughter and constant caregiver, Rosetta Heppel by his side. Hershall will be remembered for his love of family and friends and his great sense of humor!
