James Charlie Pratt

James Charles Pratt, better known to his friends and family as Charlie of Pawnee, Oklahoma, passed away on Tuesday, June 20, 2017, in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma at the age of 56 years. Leaving behind of the home his wife Sharlene and his little buddy Smoke.

Charlie was born September 25, 1960, in Pawnee, Oklahoma. He was the son of Willard Louis, Sr. and Ophelia Manona Pratt. Charlie grew up and attended school in Marland, Oklahoma. Following the completion of his education Charlie attended OSU Okmulgee Tech learning the trade of auto body repair and paint. In the 1980’s Charlie gained employment at Oklahoma State University. During this time, Charlie was Married to Brenda J Rowe and to that union there are three children Jamie, Jessie and Terry. Charlie was the head painter at the OSU Student Union when he retired in 2015, due to health reasons.

Charlie loved to fish, cook, golf, going to the casino and riding his lawn mower everywhere. He also enjoyed sitting down with a good book which was usually written by Louis Lamoure or Tony Hillerman. Charlie always enjoyed going to work and just being at home. He loved stopping and talking to everyone. He never met a stranger, if he did they were soon a friend. Telling people stories was also something Charlie enjoyed doing. Charlie was a self-taught mechanic and was always tinkering on something that needed to be fixed. Most of all Charlie will be missed by many of his family and friends.

Survivors are his; father Willard Pratt, Sr. of Pawnee, Oklahoma; four children Joseph Pratt and his wife Carolee of Red Rock, Oklahoma, Jamie M. Rowe of Pawnee, Oklahoma, Jessie L. Peterman and her husband Mark of Pawnee, Oklahoma, Terry H. Pratt and his wife Natalie of Sand Springs, Oklahoma; nine siblings Ladonna L. Pratt Palmer of Pawnee, Oklahoma; Robert R. Pratt Sr. of Pawnee, Oklahoma, Willard L. Pratt, Jr. of Pawnee, Oklahoma, George H. Pratt of Pawnee, Oklahoma, Thomas D. Pratt of Pawnee, Oklahoma, Emmett J. Pratt of Pawnee, Oklahoma, Esther N. Pratt Mitchell of Pawnee, Oklahoma, Louis F. Pratt of Pawnee, Oklahoma, Lisa G. Pratt of Pawnee, Oklahoma; ten grandchildren and a host of other relatives and friends. Charlie was preceded in death by his mother, maternal grandparents James C. and Emma (Primeaux) Clark, paternal grandparents Harry Pratt and Adam and Nora (Tilden) Pratt as well as numerous aunts and uncles.

Funeral services will be held 2:00 PM Friday at Pawnee Nation Roam Chief Building with Lewis Bernard speaking. Prayer services will be held Thursday, June 22, 2017 at 7 pm at the Pawnee Nation Roam Chief Building. Burial will follow in the North Indian Cemetery in Pawnee, Oklahoma under the direction of Poteet Funeral Home and Cremation Services.
