Jimmie D. Brown

Jimmie D. Brown was born September 23, 1937 to Boyd L. Brown and Thelma V. (Moore) Brown on the family farm southeast of Pawnee, the youngest of three children. Jimmie grew up working on the farm and accompanying his dad on county business. Boyd Brown was District 1, Pawnee County Commissioner from 1939 until his death in 1963.

After graduating from Pawnee High School in 1956, he attended Oklahoma State University (Oklahoma A & M), obtaining a degree in mechanical engineering. After college, Jimmie went on to work for a government contractor in Utah, and was involved with the design and construction of the Minuteman intercontinental ballistic missile.

Jimmie also met the love of his life, Sandra K. Ashman in 1956, and they later married in 1959. Jimmie and Sandra have one son, Derek Brown. In 1961, Jimmie and Sandra returned to Pawnee to operate the family farm due to his father’s heath. Jimmie farmed and ranched for many years, and was also an owner in the local livestock auction. In the 1980’s, Jimmie and Sandra moved to Colorado, where they founded a business that that included real estate services, an independent insurance agency, financial planning and investment services, tax and accounting services, and grew to four office locations. Jimmie was a licensed securities broker, real estate broker, and insurance broker, along with being a Certified Financial Planner.

In 2007, Jimmie and Sandra returned full time to Pawnee, where they continued their real estate business, and Jimmie returned to his love of ranching. Jimmie also enjoyed working in his garden, cooking, and spending time with his friends.

Jimmie is survived by his wife Sandra and his son Derek. Jimmie was preceded in death by his parents and his two sisters, Louise (Art) Wilson and Betty June (Amon) Gentry.
