Luella M. (Rankin) Smith

Luella M. (Rankin) Smith, 82, went to be with her Lord Wednesday January 27, 2016 in Oklahoma City.Luella was born in Pawnee on June 22, 1933 to William F. (Bill) Rankin and Ella M. (Bowman) Rankin, she was raised in Pawnee and attended Pawnee schools playing the Drums and the Clarinet in the Pawnee High School Band, graduating from Pawnee High school in 1951. Luella met Kenneth at the Pawnee Skating Rink were he worked , Luella and Kenneth were married August 23, 1952 in the Christian church in Pawnee.  Kenneth fought for his country in the Korean War and  was a member of the Oklahoma 45th National Guard being drafted out of high school, the family moved to Enid in 1960. Luella worked for St. Mary's hospital in Enid for many years and also was a caretaker and sitter for the elderly. Later she helped clean houses for several  local business owners.Luella loved raising St. Bernard and French  Poodle puppies to sell ,she loved to garden and plant flowers and Nascar Racing, she was a member of the Davis Park Christian Church and the president of the American Legion  Argon Post #4 serving as president in 1972. She loved spending time with her family and friends at her home.Luella was preceded in death by her parents and grandparents, and one son William Leo Smith in 1961.Luella leaves to cherish her memories,  husband Kenneth of 62 years, son; Kenny Smith and companion Karen Reeves  all of Enid, grandchildren; Tommy Roney, Michael Roney and Bradley Roney, great grandchildren; Shelby Roney, Hailey Roney, Heston Roney, Christopher Roney, Destiny Roney, Jackson Roney, Madison Roney, and Christian Roney.Services are Saturday, January 30, 2016 Graveside 1:00 P.M. at the Highland Cemetery Pawnee, with Senior Adult Minister Chan Ray officiating.
