Robert (Bob) Douglas Tipton

Robert (Bob) Douglas Tipton was born in Brooksfield, Florida, on June 11, 1947, to Harold and Helen Tipton, who preceded him in death. Bob was a devoted son who catered to his mother until the end.

After graduating from Dunedin High School, class of '66 in Dunedin, Florida, Bob enlisted in the Marine Corps and became an infantryman. Bob served in Vietnam with India Company, 3rd Battalion, 26th Marine Regiment during 1967-68, and fought in the 1968 Tet Offensive assigned to Hill 881S near the Khe Sanh Combat Base. Bob, a Lance Corporal, was wounded in June 1968 and was awarded the Purple Heart. Bob was also awarded the National Defense Ribbon, Vietnam Service Medal, Vietnam Campaign Medal, Presidential Unit Citation, Combat Action Ribbon and the Republic of Vietnam Cross of Gallantry. Bob loved the Marine Corps and reveled in the camaraderie his membership in this exclusive club brought. Bob's mind was like the proverbial steel trap. He not only could recite history, and events but could provide the dates of the occurrence. Bob was always the 'life of the party.'

After completing active duty service, Bob became a successful Mortgage Broker, helping many realize their dream of homeownership. Bob never lost touch with those with whom he grew up, attended school and served in the Marine Corps. Bob was affable and possessed a magnetic personality.

Bob leaves to mourn his loving wife, Vivien Grey Tipton. Bob also leaves a brother Ernie Tipton, and a host of friends, most notably, the Marines with whom he served.

Bob, we always enjoyed being in your presence and will miss your quick wit and great conversation. Sleep well, Marine.
