Theresa Marie Hutcheson

Theresa Marie Hutcheson of Fairfax, Oklahoma, was born to Ted and Mary Hazelbaker on May 29th of 1951. She was the youngest of five children. The Hazelbaker household was a place of many “get togethers”, and where Theresa learned to be an amazing host. Theresa was a devout member of the Sacred Heart Catholic church, and attended school there as a young girl. In the eighth grade she transferred to Ross Case High school and graduated there with the class of 1969. While there, she was very active as a cheerleader and was Homecoming Queen her Senior year.

Theresa grew up on North Sixth Street in Fairfax, just one block away from Roy and Dorothy Hutcheson. As a very young girl she would look at Roy and say “I’m going to marry you someday”. Being as Roy was already taken, she settled for his son Dennis. Dennis and Theresa were very content with their one block radius, and after dating for years they were married on June 6th 1969. They instantly started their own family, trying to duplicate the two amazing families in which they were from. They would have been married 52 years in June.

Theresa was a very talented homemaker, an amazing cook, a precise accountant, a devoted wife, and a loving and protective mother. She absolutely adored and spoiled her grandchildren, and had a special love for her great granddaughter. She could sew, play piano, grow beautiful gardens, and was a master of indoor and outdoor decorating. With a heart of gold and a soul full of love, she brought smiles and tears to many a face.

Theresa was always the host, and through the years she and Dennis hosted parties for nearly every occasion. Anyone living in Fairfax for very long was a witness to her kind, gentle offerings. Many times she would take Rosaries and St. Christopher medals to the church and have them blessed. Each one with a specific student or soldier in mind. She was a great Christian gardener, and this was her way of planting the seed.

On January 26, 2021, Theresa went home to meet up with her savior Jesus Christ, her mother and father Ted and Mary, her two sisters Davy and Chris, her father and mother in law Roy and Dorothy, and many more friends and family. She left behind her soulmate and devoted caregiver Dennis Hutcheson of the home, her sister and her husband Judy and Leo Johnson, brother Teddy Mae Hazelbaker, great aunt Kathy Black, and sister-in-law Betty Covey. Other survivors include her daughter and her husband Terri and Tony Gordon, her son and his wife Larry and Brenna Hutcheson, grandchildren Shelbi, Tyler, and Gunnar Gordon, Owen Hutcheson, Austin and Ashlee Jones, Ben Goodeagle, a great-granddaughter Journi Ray, and many dear friends and family members.

Theresa will be dearly missed. Services will be at 2:00 PM on Wednesday, February 3rd, 2021 at the Fairfax Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, make donations to the Woodland Elementary School at 715 West Mulberry, Fairfax, Ok 74637.
