Thomas Theodore Rice Sr.

Thomas Theodore Rice Sr. was born on July 1, 1959 in Pawnee, Oklahoma to Lynn Rice, Sr. and Rena Goodfox Rice. He passed from this life on Wednesday, April 24, 2019 having reached the age of 59 years. A plumber by trade, Thomas Rice trained at Okmulgee Vocational Technical School. He worked for various tribes across Oklahoma utilizing his plumbing skills.
Thomas belonged to the Pitahauerat band of the Pawnee Nation of Oklahoma. He was a member of the Sac and Fox chapter of the Native American Church.
He enjoyed attending Native American Church services with the Sac and Fox chapter and many other chapters throughout Oklahoma. He enjoyed beadwork and making fans and spending time with his grandchildren.
Thomas is survived by his partner, Lori Hamilton, Stillwater, Okla; children Thomas Rice, Jr., Pawnee; Lindsey Rice Nunn, Carney, Okla.; Bradley Rice, Pawnee, Okla.; Stephany Rice Denwalt, Carney, Okla; brother Mitchell Rice and family, Tulsa; sister Clarice Tselee and family, Stillwater; sister Rosemary Rice and family, Pawnee; 4 grandchildren Honesty & Bailey Nunn; Tristan & Jasper Denwalt; Thomas Theodore Rice; two aunts, Wanda Kanuho, Pawnee; Florence Goodfox, Pawnee; and many nieces and nephews.
Thomas was preceded in death by his parents, Lynn Rice, Sr. and Rena Goodfox Rice; four brothers Lynn Rice, Jr., Darrell L. Rice, Rodney H. Rice, and Jeffrey R. Rice, son Zachary Rice, aunts Elvina Goodfox Murphree, Betty Garcia, and Henrietta Goodfox Pratt, uncle Lawrence Goodfox Jr., nephew Kyle “Jess” Mann, and niece Lisa Hawkins.
Services will be held Monday, April 29 at 10 a.m. at the Pawnee Nation Roam Chief Building, Pawnee, Oklahoma with the Native American Church officiating along with Pastor Jordan Kanuho. Interment will be at the North Indian Cemetery, Pawnee, Oklahoma under the direction of Poteet Funeral Home, Pawnee, Oklahoma.
