William George Stoneroad

William “Bill” Stoneroad was born July 14, 1944 at the Pawnee Indian Hospital, Pawnee, OK to Maude Little Crow Stoneroad (Otoe/Missouria) and to Rev. John Stoneroad (Pawnee/Cheyenne). Bill was one of ten children.
Bill graduated from Canton High school in Canton Oklahoma at 17 years old and joined United States Marines serving from 1961 to 1965. His posts and deployments were in California, Okinawa, South Korea, Philippines, Hong Kong., Taiwan, and Thailand.
After service in the Marines, Bill worked in different jobs in Oklahoma, Kansas, and Texas. While in Texas, he met and married Linda his dearest partner for over 20 years, until her passing in March 2014.
At Southern Methodist University in Dallas Texas, Bill studied for 5 years before entering the ministry. Bill served his ministry in several parishes in No. Texas and Oklahoma for more than 10 years. He and Linda settled in Del City, OK, location of his last parish before becoming too ill to actively continue his ministry. Upon the passing of his wife, Linda, he returned to El Reno area to continue his serious health rehabilitation. He lived in a nursing home to continue his medical care. He passed away peacefully on April 13, 2018.
As a retired minister, Bill enjoyed sharing the gospel and supporting and counseling others in their faith. He was proud of his heritage and participated in many cultural activities as huis health permitted. He was a Southern Straight Dancer for over thirty five years often traveling across the country to dance.
From an earlier marriage, Bill has 5 children, 14 grandchildren and 2 great- grandchildren. He is preceded in death by his parents, two brothers and two sisters. He is survived by one brother, four sisters and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins from three and four generations.
Dear Bill has gone home: “Where He will wipe every tear from their eyes. Death and mourning will be no more, grief, crying, and pain will be no more, because the former things have passed away.” Revelation 21:4
