Alta Jean Compton

Alta Jean Compton went home to be with her Lord & Savior on May 16, 2016, one week after reaching her 84th birthday. She was born to John Oda and Lucinda Jane Burger on May 9, 1932 in Avery, OK. She married Charles Edward Compton on June 1, 1949 in Pawnee, and they had seven children. She gave her life to Christ in an outdoor Revival at Skedee, Oklahoma, in 1963, and served in Oklahoma churches where her husband pastored until he retired, after which they became members of the First Baptist Church in Pawnee, Oklahoma, where she served as a Sunday School teacher for many years. In 1981, she was hired as a cook at the Pawnee Elementary School where she worked until her retirement in 2001.  Alta Jean is survived by five children;  Daughter-in-law Rita Compton of Nicoma Park; son Robert Compton and his wife Debbie of Mustang, OK; daughter Diane Compton of Pawnee, OK; son Richard Mark Compton and his wife Treva of Oilton, OK; daughter Patricia Ball and her husband Cmdr. Harvey J. Ball, Jr. of Woodbridge, VA. twenty grand children: Brian Compton, Kimberly Compton, Maj. Jason Compton and his wife Cena, Tracie and her husband Chaz Steen, Adam Ward and his wife Lori, Mandy and her husband Brandon Birch, David Ward, Megan Ball, Mariah and her husband Tyler Walker, Emily and her fiancé John Frisbie, Julie Compton, Shelby Clark, Nolan Compton, Mindy Compton, Jessie, Alexia, Krisdon, CJ, Dessie and Annie Compton seventeen great grand children;  Thomas, Eli, and Zach Compton; Rachel, Jackson, Alexandria, and Bethany Compton; Boston and Finley Steen; Shaylie, Christian and Ally Birch; Speed Looper, Madisyn and Ricky Bledsaw; Rayder Roberts; and Mason Frisbie.Also, by her two sisters; Evelyn Goins of California and Glenyce Compton of Tulsa.And many adoring nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents John and Lucinda Burger, husband Charles Edward Compton, two infant daughters Kathy and Karen Compton, oldest son Kenneth Joe Compton, two brothers Oda Burger and Johnie Burger, and two sisters Opal Smith and Gladys Hagle.
