Betty Lorraine Griesel

Betty Lorraine "Gentry” Griesel was born in Lela, Oklahoma on March 9, 1929 to Herschel Harley and Nancy Jane "Morris" Gentry. With her father working for the railroad, Betty attended numerous schools throughout her childhood. She graduated from Pawnee High School in 1947.

Betty met the love of her life and the most ornery man ever, Melvin Griesel. From their first date they gave each other the nickname of "Toad" which stuck for the rest of their magical lives together. They were married on April 26, 1947 which led to an amazing 71 years together until her toad passed from this life. They built their home together on their farm south of town, where they raised two amazing daughters, Janis and Ginny. Betty loved being a housewife, being a seamstress for her girls, and helping on the farm. Betty and Melvin were finally reunited in Heaven on October 11, 2023.

Betty was a lady of many hats with different jobs to help supplement a farmer's income so that they could send their girls to college. The job she was most known for was selling Avon products. She was an amazing sales-woman. She recruited her grandkids to help with sorting, writing on books and filling sacks with merchandise and catalogs for customers. Betty sold Avon for many years and was inducted into Avon's President Club in 1980.

She loved watching her grandkids and great grandkids in any activity they had going on whether it was a sporting event, band concerts, dance recitals, livestock shows, and even field trips, she was always there. She was known as Grandma Betty to not just her grandkids, but to all their friends. She was prepared for anything, with her trunk filled with lawn chairs, umbrellas, and blankets. When you needed to clean the egg off your hands after a nail biting battle in the egg toss on Fourth of July; Grandma Betty had the wet wash rag in a baggie ready to clean you up.

Betty is survived by her daughters Janis Jones and spouse Ralph of Perry, Ginny Dvorak and spouse Kendal of Pawnee. Grandchildren Katy Boyle and spouse Scott of Edmond, Tori Furgason and spouse Russ of Edmond, Timmy Dvorak and spouse Melissa of Pawnee, Amber Grant and spouse Adam of Perkins and Lindsay Barrett of Pawnee. Great grandchildren Lydia and Caraline Boyle, Lana and Sadie Furgason, Jaylee and Finlee Dvorak, Kylie and Keilee Castleberry, Cagle and Gentry Grant, Kynzie and Ava Barrett, and many nieces and nephews.

She was Met at Heaven's gates by her beloved Toad, her parents Herschel and Nancy Gentry, brother Amon Gentry and sister-in-law Betty June, granddaughter Kendra Dvorak and great granddaughter Addyson Barrett.
