Carl Clayton Hicks entered rest on November 24, 2023.  Born on Blue Mountain, Arkansas to Frank & Gladys (Stone) Hicks on October 23, 1932. Carl was a U.S. Army Veteran, farmer, square dancer, father, grandpa, great-grandpa and friend.  He will be remembered for his generosity & quick wit.  Carl grew up out in the “Bend” and graduated high school from Ralston.  He then joined the Army that became his long-term career.  Carl married the love of his life, Dana (Johnson) that rewarded him with 3 daughters Debra, Gwen & Brenda.  Stationed in OKC they settled in Edmond to raise their children.  Carl & Dana found a love for Square Dancing which led them to dance all over the state.  They later moved to their final resting place, Pawnee, where they quickly became strong working members of the community.  While Square Dancing in Ponca City they met 6 couples that became life-long friends they called the “Clique.”  Carl loved John Deere Tractors, eating good food & drinking coffee with his buddies at the “Ranch Burger.”   Carl is preceded in death by His parents, Frank & Gladys, daughter, Debra Lockwood and His wife, Dana.  They are probably square dancing together already. He is survived by 2 Daughters, 7 Grandchildren & 2 Great-Grandkids and lots of Cousins. Survivors are Gwen Haga, Brenda & Doug Pauls, Matthew & Allison Lockwood, Joshua & Regina Haga, Jason Haga, Micah & Kristine Haga, Isaac Haga, Melissa Pauls & Kalvin Torres & Mia Pauls-Torres, Julie Pauls & Connolley Coffey, Ray & Mary Knowles, Delores Martin, with numerous other Cousins. A Memorial Service will be held Friday December 15, 2023 at 10:30 a.m. at the First Baptist Church.  In lieu of flowers donations can be made to The Pawnee County Historical Society.   Services were entrusted to the Poteet Funeral Home and Cremation Services, friends can leave a memory for the family at www.poteetfuneralhome.com
