Carma Jean Wilkerson-Jenkins entered into our Lord’s rest in Edmond, OK on November 1, 2021 with her family surrounding her. Carma was born April 24, 1935 in Pawnee to Edna Clara Griesel Dennis and Marshel Lyle Dennis. She graduated from Pawnee High School in 1953 and began her very rewarding career with Conoco in Ponca City, OK and was transferred to Conoco in OKC where she retired in 1987.
Carma married Don Wilkerson on September 22, 1973. They loved taking adventures together. Carma was an avid snow skier and she and Don frequented the slopes of the US and Europe. Don preceded Carma in death on February 6, 2002. Later Carma married Bill Jenkins on February 17, 2005, and soon introduced her to the life of Ford Model A cars. They traveled across North America in the Model A’s. Bill preceded Carma in death on July 20, 2016.
Carma was a 50+ year member of St. Luke’s United Methodist Church and the Upper Room Class. Because of the love she had for her community and history, Carma was involved in many organizations. She was the past President of Redbud Women's Club; Regent, Colonel John Starke; Sr. Chapter Daughters of the American Revolution; President, Oklahoma State Society Colonial Dames 17th Century; President, William Rives Chapter Colonial Dames 17th Century; and Regent, Oklahoma Division Magna Charta Dames and Barons. In addition to these offices Carma was also a faithful member of the Baronial Order of Magna Charta, Oklahoma Society of Descendants of Lady Godiva, Oklahoma Society Dames of the Court of Honor Isabel Hastings Dial Chapter Daughters of American Colonists.
Carma enjoyed a rich life with an extended family of friends and family. She was a natural athlete that played baseball, basketball, and a cheerleader. In her later years, she learned to play tennis and played on several tennis teams. She had a love of flowers like her mother Edna, particularly irises and Carma loved genealogy and had traced her family back to the 1400’s.
Carma is survived by her stepdaughter Paula Tarbutton; sister-in-law Betty Nell Dennis; Nieces and Nephews, Steve and Cindy Dennis, Ashley and Mark Pino, Audrey and Scott Neal, Gary and Tara Dennis, Robert and Monica Dennis, Karla and Taylor Jimenez; Michael and Leah Dennis; 23 great nieces and nephews; one great great niece and very close friend Diane King and many others.
Carma was preceded in death by her parents, brothers Delman and Robert “Bob”, Sister-in-Law Dorothy Dennis, and husbands Don Wilkerson and William “Bill” Jenkins.
Funeral services will be held at St Luke’s United Methodist Church in Oklahoma City on Saturday November 6, 2021 with Pastor Dave Poteet officiating. Graveside service will follow at Highland Cemetery, Pawnee, OK and entrusted with Poteet Funeral Home and Cremation Services.
