Charles Smith Alexander

Charles Alexander Wishikakeshkaki (Strong Thunder Walker) was born in Pawnee, on September 25, 1985. Charles was a loving son to George and Renee Smith-Alexander and Mr. David Rice and Candy Wooten of Shawnee, OK. He was an enrolled member of the Pawnee Nation and a descendant of the Otoe-Missouri, Yakima and Thunder Clan of the Sac N Fox Nation. His grandparents are Don and June Hamilton, Sheryl Littlecrow and Great Grandma Velma Smith.

He enjoyed playing shinny with his Ponca relatives as well as basketball and wrestling, but his true passion was football. Charles played on a Ponca City traveling football team during his junior high days- the Ponca City Outlaws. It was this unique collection of young men that came together and became a deadly football team during their junior high and high school years. Charles loved being a Ponca City Wildcat.

Through summer workouts, drills, and weight training, Charles’ dedication to the team earned him several interests from colleges: OSU, Emporia State, KS Missouri State, MO and Michigan State. Unfortunately, a flagrant unsportsmanlike hit from behind completely tore all his ligaments in his knee at the end of his junior year and he never played football again. However, until the day he entered the heavenly gates, he kept in touch with most of his Wildcat teammates.

When Charles wasn’t participating in sports, he was dancing. He was able to rehab his knee back to a stable condition, where he could showcase his dancing skills as a grass dancer and a chicken dancer. Charles was a loving affectionate son, brother, nephew and grandson. He would tease all those he loved.

Charles is survived by his Father George, Mother Renee of Ponca City, his children Charli Savana Alexander, Rhys Fox Alexander, Rory Velma Alexander and another blessing on the way. Brothers Kenneth Shane Alexander & Gavin Mycol Alexander of Ponca City, Sister Ashlan Littlecrow Vowel. Adopted Brother Mark Bolin, Johnathan Rice, adopted Sisters Samantha Harrison, Larissa No Braid and Tara Renee Goodfox. Charles is also survived by many uncles, aunties, nephews, nieces and cousins.
