Dennis Michael Sindone Jr. (33 years old) went to his heavenly home on August 11th, 2016.
He is the Son of Lillie Kaulaity Nelson and Dennis Michael Sindone Sr. along with his Comanche Father William Nelson, Sr. He was born on November 24, 1982 in Stoney Brook, New York. Dennis was known as “D J” to his family and friends. Dennis was a proud member of the Pawnee Nation, he was also Kiowa, Cheyenne, Oglala Lakota, Ioway, and Otoe-Missouria. His paternal side is from a large Italian family from the states of New York and Florida, where he was equally proud of his diverse lineage. He was taken in by all his Comanche relatives as their own. Dennis was an artist since his birth, his works were sought out by many admirers. Dennis was an accomplished straight dancer and loved to dance hard for all his family that couldn’t. He was raised in Perkins, Oklahoma and lived his life within all his tribal affiliations. Dennis was very active in his Cheyenne Ceremonial ways and looked forward to his 4 year vow. Dennis attended Haskell Indian Nations University in Kansas and moved his artistic talents to change the mascot image. Dennis always had the “Big Dream” that all his Native American people wouldn’t be divided over petty differences. His enjoyment and love was to “Thunder Up” and “Boomer Sooner.” In his working life he was a wildland fire fighter, he also worked in Pompano Beach, Florida - Pomona, New York, San Antonio, Texas, Concho, Oklahoma and Perkins, Oklahoma. Dennis often spoke of the highlight of his life was being danced into the Pow Wow circle by three (3) Comanche Code Talkers of WW II, the late Roderick Red Elk, the late Charles Chibitty, and the late Forrest Kassanavoid who spoke over his life and adorned his head with the Eagle Feather of Life.He was preceeded in death by his great grandmother Lillie Carson Morgan, greatgrandfather Chester Leading Fox, Uncle Michael Kaulaity, and his Grandmother Lucille Sindone. He is survived by His Mother Lillie Kaulaity Nelson, Father Dennis Sindone, Sr, and Father William Nelson, Sr. grandmother Yyonne Leading Fox of El Reno, Ok., , and grandfathers; Herschel Kaulaity of Tahlequah, and Robert Sindone Sr. of Pompano Beach, Fl., Aunts; Mary Kaulaity of El Reno, Oklahoma, Carol Kaulaity of El Reno, Oklahoma, Sandy Kelley of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, and Melanie Motah of Lawton, Oklahoma Carolina and Parrish Lamb of Pompano Beach, Fl., Lorraine Marcos and Jack of Long Island, New York,Loretta Gabay of Pompano Beach, Fl. Uncle; Robert Sindone Jr. of Pompano Beach, Fl., Dennis is survived by his Brothers: Christopher Sindone of Lawrence, Kansas and son Phenix Sage Sindone, William Nelson, Jr. of Lawton, Oklahoma, Steven Sindone of the Dominican Republic, Matthew Sindone of Suffren, New York, Jacob Nelson Red Elk of Cache, Oklahoma, Max Nelson Red Elk of Cache, Oklahoma, Robert Tsotaddle of El Reno, Oklahoma, Daniel Littlebear of El Reno, Oklahoma, Joshua Stein of San Antonio, Texas, David Little Bear of El Reno, Oklahoma, Nehi Nelson of Lawton, Oklahoma, William Paul Nelson of Lawton, Oklahoma, T.C. Nelson of Lawton, Oklahoma and Chris Nelson of Apache, Oklahoma, Justin Sindone, Jeffrey Sindone, Robert Sindone III, Joseph Marcos, Anthony Gabay. Dennis is survived by his Sisters: Melissa Tsotaddle of El Reno, Oklahoma, Mary Jo Kaulaity of Odanah, Wisconsin, Jill Kaulaity of Ashland, Wisconsin, Savannah Stein of San Antonio, Texas, Krystal Sindone of Pomona, New York, Rey Norberto of Lawton, Oklahoma, Rhianna Nelson of Walters, Oklahoma, Sallie Nelson of Walters, Oklahoma, and Marie Nelson of Lawton, Oklahoma, Alisha Marcos, Mia Gabay, and Luccia Lamb. Prayer services with be held 7:00 P.M. Sunday in the Pawnee Nation Roam Chief Event Center, Funeral Services will be held Monday 11:00 A.M . August 15, 2016 officating will be Rev. Warren Pratt Jr. Interment will be at the Pawnee Indian North Cemetery, A Traditional Pawnee Feast will be served after the interment. Services are under the directions of Poteet Funeral Home.
