Dylan Lane Echo Hawk (Pita Turahe “Good Man”) was born on February 7, 1990 and started his spiritual journey home on December 5, 2017.
He was born in Stillwater, OK, the oldest son of David and Angie (RealRider) Echo Hawk, and grew up in Pawnee, Ok, graduating from Pawnee High School in 2008. He enlisted in the Army in 2013, making him the 5th generation EchoHawk to serve in the military. He attended basic training and infantry training in Ft. Benning, GA. His permanent Duty Station was Ft. Lewis, WA, where he was part of Charger Company, 2nd Battalion, 3rd Infantry Regiment, 1st Stryker Brigade Combat Team, 2nd Infantry Division.
Dylan had a quiet, good-natured personality from an early age, and exhibited strong artistic ability, winning Best of Show in High School. His art teacher praised Dylan’s talent, saying his creative abilities offered him a promising career. His family and friends could always count on a friendly smile, handshake and hug when seeing him, knowing that he was genuinely happy to see them.
He loved the outdoors and as a child was able to pitch a tent, start a fire, and prep a camp quickly and efficiently. He liked to fish and enjoyed sharing that activity with his son Tylan, and his nephews Dylan, Heston and Davyn. He enjoyed sports and was an avid OU and Thunder fan.
As a member of the Kitkehaki Band, Dylan was proud of his Pawnee culture. While in the service he taught his friends Pawnee words and shared Native music with them. He was honorably discharged in January, 2017.
