Jacklyn Marie Young

Jacklyn Marie Rogers Young was born in Pawnee, OK on November 6, 1962, and went home to be with her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, on June 29, 2023. A Black Bear to the core, Jackie spent all her childhood attending Pawnee Public Schools and graduated in 1981. Upon graduating, she obtained her Bachelor's Degree in Education from Hannibal LeGrange College in Hannibal, Missouri. Years later, she went back to school and obtained her Master's Degree in Educational Administration from Southwestern Oklahoma State University in 2009.

In 1984, Jackie married Sherman Nungester at the First Christian Church in Pawnee. Together, both he and Jackie pastored at two churches in Missouri, one in Iowa, and one in Oklahoma. During their time in Missouri, they had two children, David Nungester and Leslie Nungester Rollins. Jackie taught for six years in Missouri and one year in Iowa, and in 1997, they moved back to Pawnee.

In 2003, Jackie met Frank Young at Lake Tenkiller. On February 7, 2004, Jackie and Frank were married in Pawnee where they remained happily married until his passing in 2013. Frank and Jackie loved being part of the Pawnee community, and with the lake being where they met, loved spending time together there. With doing all they possibly could together, being actively involved in David and Leslie's school activities, serving at the church, and running the 4th of July games for years was just a few of many of their favorite things to do together.

Most of Jackie's educational career was spent teaching at Pawnee Elementary for 15 years, where she also earned her National Board Certification in 2003. In 2012, God then brought her the opportunity to work for the State of Oklahoma in a newly created role called a Reach Coach. She was in that role for two years, and then was given the opportunity to teach at Ponca City East Middle School where she taught for one year. Once a Black Bear always a Black Bear, she returned home to Pawnee with all she had learned to finish her educational career in various roles. These roles included Middle School/High School Librarian, Athletic Director, Middle School Principal, and Compliance Administrator. This bringing her entire educational career to 29 years.

She loved Pawnee Schools, the kids, and the faculty and staff with all her heart. Retiring early in 2022 due to her ALS diagnosis was one of the most difficult decisions she ever made. Jackie loved being active with any kind of exercise that involved being with friends, going to sporting events and spending the summers with her grandkids in Warren. Her favorite place to be was the beach, along with any event that involved family or friends.

Jackie was born-again in 1973, and did her best to live a life that was pleasing to the Lord. She raised her children in the same manner, teaching them to seek the Lord and His will for their lives. Jackie loved being a member of the church, serving others, and being a blessing.

Jackie is preceded in death by her son, Mark Nungester, in 1990, her husband, Frank Young, in 2013, as well as her step-dad, Rex Maltsberger, in 2000.

Jackie is survived by her parents, Rea Maltsberger, and Olin and Virginia Rogers. She is also survived by her children, David Nungester and wife, Samantha, Leslie Rollins and husband, Cory, and Christine Purdy-Hohn. She is also survived by her grandchildren, Ezekial and Isabella Nungester, and Andeara Hohn. She is also survived by her sister, Debra Hey and husband, Randy, her Brother, Keith Rogers, and wife, Kristi, and brother, Jared Lentz, and sister Melba Maltsberger-Chatham. She is also survived by a niece, many nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins, family, and friends.
