Joy Minney

The world lost its sweetest, kindest, most selfless soul on February 29, 2016 when Joy Minney, 82, went to be with her Lord and Savior, leaving behind her loving and grieving family and friends. Joy was born March 17, 1933 in Pawnee, Oklahoma.  She was raised in Pawnee, one of eight children born to John and Essie (Willis) Hallum.  She married H.B. Minney on February 18, 1950, and they had two children, Raymond and Vicki. Joy enjoyed taking care of her family and home and reading her Bible.  She cooked, canned, sewed, and made quilts and afghans, always staying busy.  She and H.B. loved playing cards, going fishing, putting out a garden, raising chickens and feeding all the birds, especially humming birds.  She also loved to read and work crossword puzzles, at which she was a whiz.  Her loving heart led her to send cards of encouragement to the sick or sad of heart...she was always thinking of others and taking care of their needs. Survivors include her husband, H.B. Minney of Maramec, Oklahoma; her children Raymond Minney and his wife Connie of Maramec, Oklahoma, and Vicki Young of Tulsa, Oklahoma; her grandchildren Melissa Young of Owasso, Oklahoma, Lori Buchanan and her husband Justin of Pawnee, Oklahoma, Bobby Young and his wife Cherissa of Tahlequah, Oklahoma, and Brian Young of Tulsa, Oklahoma; her great-grandchildren Piper Young of Farmington, New Mexico; Bryson, Brock and Bailey Young of Tahlequah, Oklahoma; and Aubrey Buchanan of Pawnee, Oklahoma along with a host of extended family members and friends.  She was preceded in death by her grandson Mike Minney, her parents, one brother, and four sisters. Graveside services will be held at the Highland Cemetery in Pawnee, Oklahoma, on Friday, March 4, at 2:00 p.m. under the direction of Poteet Funeral Home and Cremation Services
