Lou Ann (Norris) Jensen of Tulsa, Okla. and Pawnee, Okla. was born on July 3, 1948 to Cecil “Whitey” and Avis Norris. Lou Ann grew up on her family’s cattle ranch in Pawnee and graduated from Pawnee High School in 1966. She met Rodney “Rod” Jensen in Ponca City, Okla. while they were both working for Conoco, and they were married on August 9, 1969.
After brief stays in Maryland and Mississippi, Lou Ann and Rod made their home in Tulsa in 1974 where they raised their two children. She received her nursing degree from Tulsa Junior College in 1979 and focused her career working in neurology. She worked for St. Francis Hospital in the 6 West unit and in neurology offices with Michael Haugh, M.D. and Gregory Connor, M.D. In the last few years, Lou Ann and Rod spent most of their time on the ranch in Pawnee. They are members of Harvard Avenue Christian Church in Tulsa where they have enjoyed being active with their Sunday School class.
She is survived by her husband Rodney Jensen, son Craig and wife Tonya Jensen of Pawnee, daughter Jill and husband Travis Wagar of Bentonville, Ark., four grandchildren: Natalie Jensen of Stillwater, Hadley Jensen of Pawnee, Anna Wagar of Bentonville, and Wes Wagar of Bentonville. She is also survived by her sister Virginia and husband and Olin Rogers of Pawnee. Lou Ann is preceded in death by her parents Cecil and Avis Norris.
A memorial service is planned for Thursday, August 10 at 10:00am at Harvard Avenue Christian Church, 5502 S. Harvard Ave, Tulsa. A burial service will be on Wednesday, August 9 at 6:30pm at Highland Cemetery, on Highway 18 just north of Pawnee, under the direction of Poteet Funeral Home.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Phillips Theological Seminary, 901 N. Mingo Road, Tulsa, OK 74116 to support Christian graduate theological education.
