Beatrice Kay Realrider, lovingly known to many as“ Aunt Bea,” was born on August 23, 1947, in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, to Austin and Marie (Lane) Realrider. She passed away surrounded by the love of her family and community, leaving behind a legacy of generosity, strength, and joy. Beatrice was a proud graduate of Pawnee High School, Class of 1967. She continued her education by attending Barrel Racing School in Texas, Cosmetology School in Cleveland, Oklahoma, and later earned her CLEET certification. Throughout her life, she worked in many roles, including beautician, security guard at Santa Fe Racetrack, cook for the Pawnee Elders and Pawnee Nation Youth, and as a CNA in Stillwater, Oklahoma. She was also a talented self-taught interior decorator and sculptor. Beatrice was known for her big heart and open home. She welcomed anyone in need, often filling her house with her sons’ friends and nephews, feeding them, caring for them, and driving them all over Oklahoma for skating and breakdancing. She played a vital role in advocating for the youth of Pawnee and was instrumental in helping establish the town’s skate park. She tirelessly raised funds, going door-to-door with a coffee can in hand, and today the park remains a beloved space for local youth. Aunt Bea had a deep love for cooking—especially her famous meat pies, which she perfected over the years. She even sold them at the Shakopee Powwow, where they were warmly received by the Northern Natives. She was known for her humor, her spicy language, and her ability to make anyone feel at home at her table. She also loved to travel, a passion she inherited from her parents. Over the years, she journeyed to Montana, North Dakota, Mexico, and many other places. She enjoyed accompanying her brother Sonny to art shows and traveling with her nieces, “Tootz and Marie,” to arts and craft events, where she was a natural and enthusiastic saleswoman. She is survived by her kids, Alison Kay Fox, Austin Joe RealRider, and Rusty Diamond; her grandchildren are Nisha Edwards, Dae Diamond, Phoenix Diamond, Shawn Diamond, Kylie Diamond, Jacque Cummings Enciso, Harris J. Cummings, and Sharlae Rose Cummings, and her great-grandchildren are Ayden Johnson, Ariyah Edwards, Lashae and Amiyah Pippens, Jayceon “Scootie” Osceola, Hayden and Aniya Estes, Grayson Walker, and Kaymayah “Lyric” Houston. Numerous nieces and nephews, including Linda Horn, Cherise Moore, Alice Carroll, Angie EchoHawk, Pam Ellis, Warren RealRider, Lloyd Cummings and Marlon Houston. She was preceded in death by her parents, her sisters, Lillie and Carolyn, her brothers, Norwood and Austin, her son, Darin Diamond, her granddaughter, Mercedes Walker, and her nephews, Lawrence Ray Cummings and Dylan EchoHawk. Beatrice Kay RealRider will be remembered for her generosity, her spirit, her laughter, and her unwavering love for her family, her community, and her culture. She will be deeply missed but forever cherished.
