Richard Teter

Richard Allison Teter, age 75, long-time resident of Yale, Oklahoma, joined his Savior on March 18, 2024. He was a beloved husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, educator, coach, and friend.

He was born, June 5, 1948, Pawnee, Oklahoma to Allison Marion Teter and Gladys Rose (Chambers) Teter. His paternal grandparents are Charley & Olive (Spears) Teter; and maternal grandparents are Robert & Rose (Eikenberry) Chambers. He grew up on the 200 acre family ranch in the Masham community, attending Pawnee Public Schools and graduating with the 'Black Bear Class of 1966'.

Richard married Liana Chapman in 1970, celebrating 53 anniversaries together. They had three beautiful children - Lindsey, Bronco, and Fancy. Richard was devoted to his family and his life was filled with even more light with the addition of four grandchildren, Remington Crenshaw, Haley Teter, Kaden Teter, Baker Teter and two great-grandsons, Reece and Cruze "little Hank" Crenshaw.

After earning his associate degree from NEO, Richard then graduated from Northeastern State University with both a bachelor's in education and master's degree in Guidance, Counseling & Administration. Richard's education career spanned 46 years as a counselor, educator, administrator, and football coach in Limon, Colorado; Morrison, Cleveland, Yale, Hominy and finally in Jennings, Oklahoma. The contributions he made to the lives of his students and players are numerous; the lessons he shared live on through those he mentored to this day. It is an understatement to say he was a tough guy, he was far tougher than most (just ask his former football players), but his love for his family, his friends, his students, and players was immense, and he was loved back immensely.

He enjoyed spending time with family, friends, outdoors, watching football, the rodeo channel, Elvis, old-time country, old-time rock & roll music, and spending time in the Lord's word. He passed these passions onto his son, daughters, and grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents Gladys and Al Teter; and many more family and dear friends that welcomed him at the gates of Heaven.

He is survived by his wife, Liana (Chapman) Teter; son Kyle Bronco Teter & wife, Emalee, of Yale; daughters Lindsey Teter, of Pawnee, and FancyEagle Teter, of Yale; grandsons Remington Crenshaw of Hominy; Kaden Teter and Baker Teter of Yale; granddaughter Haley Teter of Pawnee; and two great-grandsons, Reece and Cruze "little Hank" Crenshaw.
