Robert Theodore (Ted) Left Hand, Sr., of Pawnee, OK, born December 8, 1937, passed away peacefully at his home in Tulsa, OK on Sunday, September 6, 2015. Robert was the beloved husband of Lupe Left Hand, Tulsa, OK, loving father of 8 children, 2 adopted daughters, as well as 3 step-daughters: Georgia Left Hand, Tampa, FL; Cynthia Zimmers, Fort Bragg, NC; Victoria Left Hand, St. Louis, MO; Carmen Left Hand, Deceased; Robert Left Hand, Jr., St. Louis, MO; Dennis Left Hand, London, ON; Samuel Left Hand, London, ON; Rebecca Left Hand, Nestor Falls, ON; Sylvia (Denise) McIntosh, Sperry, OK; Karen Chisholm, Catoosa, OK; Ladenna Cole, Peoria Heights, IL; Tammy Cole, Coweta, OK; and Deborah O'Hara, Broken Arrow, OK. In addition to his children, Robert was the proud grandfather of 33 grandchildren and great grandfather to 13. Born to Sam Left Hand of Concho, OK and Emma Skye (Young) Left Hand of Pawnee, OK, after the death of his mother, he was raised by his uncle Sam Young of Pawnee, OK. Robert proudly served his country in the United States Marine Corps from 1956-1959. During his free time, Robert coached football, boys' and girls' basketball and boys' and girls' softball. A champion fancy dancer in his early years, Robert later moved on to straight and traditional dance.Robert was a devout Christian who gave his life to the Lord in 1985. He used his faith in the Lord to lead many young people to the church through sports. Many called him brother, uncle, and friend. Robert is preceded in death by his parents, Sam and Emma Left Hand. Uncle Sam Young, his brothers Sherman Left Hand, William Left Hand, Samuel (Phillip) Left Hand, and Francis (Butch) Left Hand, sister "Lou" Topetchy, daughter Carmen Left Hand, and grandson, Clarence (CeeJay) Kelly, Jr. Robert's wake will be held at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday, September 9, 2015 at the Pawnee Nation Roam Chief Building, Pawnee, OK with Warren Pratt, Jr., officiating. Interment will be held at 10:00 a.m. at the West (Chaui) Indian Cemetery, Pawnee, OK with a traditional mourning feast immediately after. Services under the direction of Poteet Funeral Home, Pawnee, OK.
