SHEILA MARIE (NEVINS) BRIGGS OBITUARY

(November 12th, 1961- March 19th, 2024)

 

Sheila Marie (Nevins) Briggs, 62, long-time resident of Pawnee, Oklahoma, went to be with the Lord in the early morning hours of Tuesday, March 19th, 2024, in her home.

Sheila was born on November 12th, 1961, in Littleton, Colorado. Sheila and her twin sister, Sharon (Nevins) Bradley were adopted by William and Mildred Nevins of Tulsa. Sheila graduated from Nathan Hale High School in 1980 and went on to pursue a lifelong career in the graphic arts. Sheila began working as an artist at Ideal Glass and Sign, where she met the love of her life, Tommie Briggs. Sheila and Tommie were married on October 8th, 1988, and worked side-by-side for over thirty years.

Sheila’s favorite past times included working with her late husband, Tommie, and creating art and building their business. Sheila and Tommie enjoyed spending time at their farm in Masham, Oklahoma, with family and friends. Sheila was known by her friends as an animal lover and was known for rescuing and taking in the local stray animals. Sheila loved volunteering in her community, working with the Pawnee Chamber of Commerce. Sheila loved community events such as the Pawnee Wild West Show, Dick Tracy Days, Christmas Parade, and Easter Egg Hunt. 

Sheila is survived by her brother-in-law, Joseph Bradley; nephew, David Bradley (wife Andrea Bradley) and their two children, Lucian and Bishop; niece, Laura DeLaune (husband Euclid DeLaune) and their three children, Melanie, Parker, and Hunter; Grandchildren, Duncan and Peyton Len Briggs and their parents, Derek and Kristen Briggs; and brother-in-law, Gary Briggs. 

Sheila is preceded in death by her husband, Tommie Briggs; sister, Sharon Bradley; parents, William and Mildred Nevins; paternal grandparents, James and Elva Nevins; maternal grandparents, Arthur and Lola Bell Griswold; and sister-in-law, Debbie Briggs.  

Memorial services for Sheila will be held at the Pawnee Lakeside Event Center on Saturday April 13th, 2024, at 2 p.m. 

The family wishes to express gratitude to all their friends and extended family for their prayers, love, and support during this challenging time. In lieu of flowers, friends may honor Sheila Marie Briggs by making a memorial contribution to their local animal shelter, humane society, or spay and neuter clinic
