Terry Travis, 53, of Maramec, passed away on Sept. 12, 2021, after a battle with heart failure.
Terry was born on Feb. 7, 1968, in Cushing, OK. He had many careers throughout his lifetime, including welding, farming, ranching, and hauling cattle, and he owned Travis Lease Service, a roustabout service during the 2000s. In the last few years of his life, he ran a dozer service, hauled cattle and farmed. He was always looking for a new adventure and ready to change careers when the right opportunity came along.
He married Jane Brown Travis on Sept. 9, 1985. They had two sons, Dillon Travis and wife Kaylee of Maramec, and Travis Kelly and wife Melissa of Guthrie.
Terry was very hard working, and not much could keep him down. Even in his last days he was still convinced he’d be better in no time and back working. He could fix anything, and he knew so much about so many things. He loved farming, raising cattle, and going fishing. Although he never really would’ve retired, all he talked about was retiring to take his grandkids fishing, and he was looking forward to meeting his two new granddaughters arriving in just a few months.
Terry was preceded in death by his grandparents CE and Margie Travis.
He is survived by his wife Jane; sons Dillon Travis and wife Kaylee, and Travis Kelly and wife Melissa; one grandson Mack Kelly; a brother Mike Travis; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law Frank and Debbie Smith, Jack and Mary Woods, Jerry and Tammy Brown, Darren Brown; mother-in-law Evelyn Brown; and numerous nieces and nephews.
A funeral service is scheduled for 2 p.m. Sept. 17 at Poteet Funeral Home in Pawnee, OK. In lieu of flowers, the family is accepting donations to cover funeral expenses. An account is set up at Armstrong Bank under Terry Travis Memorial. Services were entrusted to the Poteet Funeral Home and Cremation Services, friends can leave a memory for the family at www.poteetfuneralhome.com
