Truman H. Black

Truman Henry Black,79, went to be with his Lord and Savior, Monday February 27, 2017 with his loving family by his side. Truman was born November 28, 1937 to Theodore Sr. and Myrtle (Robedeaux) Black in Pawnee, Oklahoma. Truman was raised and schooled in the Pawnee area. Truman served his country in the United States Navy serving six years. Truman went back to college at 39 years old and received an Associate of Arts from Fresno State College, he then attended the University Of Oklahoma graduating with a bachelor's Degree in History, Truman achieved his master's degree at 58 years old, in Linguistics, he was a Black belt and taught ballroom dancing for ten years. Truman met and married his best friend Hattie Crawford in the Moore Indian Baptist Church, some of  Truman's fondest memories were being a dad, and  watching his daughters Debbie and Nancy compete in sports. Truman loved  his animals, Rock, Meha, Coco, Chico, Katie and Dobie. Truman Loved his family and his extended family, he was passionate about his Christian faith, and the Otoe Language. Truman was proud that he had accomplished everything in life that he wanted to, he had no regrets. Truman is survived by his wife; of the home Hattie, two daughters; Debra Black and Nancy Doll, sisters; Glydas, Dolly, Karen, Diane, and Joan, granddaughter; Hunter Cheynee, brother; Punkin Black and extended family Angie and Linda, and a host of friends.Truman was preceded in death by his parents, Theodore Sr. and Myrtle (Robeadeaux) Black, Audry Black, Theodore Black Jr., Regina Bassett and Everett LeeServices are Thursday 2:00 P.M. March 1, 2017 in the Otoe Baptist Church with Pastor James Kenner and Pastor Richard Crawford officiating. Internment will follow in the Otoe-Missouria Cemetery in Red Rock, Oklahoma.Services are under the direction of Poteet Funeral Home and Cremation Services of Pawnee, friends can leave a memory for the family at www.poteetfuneralhome.com
