Violet Evelean "Evelyn" Whitworth

June 30, 1937 — July 4, 2016

Violet Evelean Whitworth known to most as "Evelyn" was born June 30, 1937 in Alma, Arkansas to Mary and Charlie Hammons.  She passed peacefully from this life on July 4, 2016.Evelyn moved to Tulsa as a child with her family where her father worked in the train yard.  That is when she developed her love for trains and loved to let it be known she was a railroad brat.Evelyn later met Carl Virgil Whitworth and they immediately fell in love and married 2 weeks later on June 10, 1957 and made their home in Maramec, Oklahoma.  She was a homemaker all her life and lived a simple yet happy life.  Upon the death of her husband in 1985 she moved to Pawnee, Oklahoma.  She traveled with her son-in-law Quinton Wilson and grandchildren C.J. & Randall Wilson on many wonderful adventures.   Evelyn also like traveling with Lela and Allan Waters and helping them on the farm.  She always had a smile, never met a stranger and stayed active with her daily walks.  The highlight of her life was her grandchildren and she adored each and every one of them and loved being a part of their lives.  Her love for her family and friends has left them many memories to cherish.Proceeding her in death was her husband of 28 years Carl Whitworth, stepson Charles Ray Whitworth, parents, Mary Dayton and Charlie Hammons and 5 sisters, Mildred, Ellen, Margaret, Alma and Ruthie and 3 brothers Bennis, Freddie and Dayton.Evelyn leaves behind her surviving children Beverly & husband, Jimmy Ware, Maramec, OK, Carla Jewell & husband Clint Scott Pawnee, OK, Leona & husband Wes Sewell Phoenix, AZ and daughter-in-law Leta Whitworth Gulfport, Mississippi.Also she leaves behind her grandchildren Brenda Brown and life partner Cliff Davis, Kathy Reed & husband Doug, Joanna Pierce & husband Tracy, Carl Jewell, Becky Jewell, Brandon Jewell, Brandy Jewell, Brooke Jewell, C.J. Wilson, Randall Wilson, Heather Redburn & husband Bently, Clinton Scott and Christina Whitworth.Honorary grandchildren Katosha Raney, Natalie Moore, Tina Webster and Kyla Wichita.Great grandchildren Jordan Brown, Dalton Brown, Doug Reed Jr, David Reed, Patience Pugh, Kyah Jewell, Candence Jewell, Kohlton Jewell, Kyndal Jewell, Aden Ford, Patience Barr, Bryce Redburn and Bella Redburn.Honorary great grandchildren Payden Dallas, Adyson Dallas, Savannah Moore, and Gunner Adams.Three great great grandchildren Addi Reed, Lexi Reed and Jayden Reed.Plus many nieces, nephews & a host of other family and friends.Services were held Saturday 10:00 am July 9, 2016 @ Poteet  Funeral Home with Reverend Eugene Blatchford  officiating.  Interment followed at Maramec Cemetery under direction of Poteet Funeral Home and Cremation Services.
