William "Bill" Joseph Perry was born April 3, 1941 in Carnegie, Oklahoma to Cecil Aubrey Perry and Doris Hedgecock Perry Schrock.
Bill's father died when Bill was 5 and his brother was 6 years old. When they were 7 and 8 years old, they swept out the Marx-Wheeler stores before school each day. Bill worked various jobs and the Maltberger Station when he was in high school.
He graduated from Pawnee High School with the Class 1959. He worked his way through college and graduated from OSU with a Bachelors Degree in Economics. He graduated from OU Law School in 1966. Upon graduation from law school he practiced law with the Darden & Mechem Law Firm in Las Cruces, New Mexico and then became First Assistant Attorney under Ernie Williams for the Southern New Mexico District covering three counties. Bill practiced law in Fairfax before joining Robert Scott in Pawnee. When Robert Scott became District Judge, he opened his office where he practiced until about two months before his illness in November, 2020, completing 54 years.
He was married to Sheila Bellamy in 1964 and they had two sons, Boyd and Todd.
His humor and sincerity is well known. He always tried to represent his clients well.
He was recognized by his Great Grandma FawFaw at three years old, with a Pawnee Indian name, "Funny Bear."
Bill was a member of the Oklahoma Bar Association, New Mexico Bar Association, the Pawnee Christian Church, and in the past, many other organizations.
He was preceded in death by his mother and father and his brother, Robert E. Perry.
He is survived by his wife, Sheila; and his son, Boyd and wife, Steffani; grandchilden, Parker and Kaden; and son, Todd.
He passed away after a short cancer illness and he chose to be cremated.
